
His Eminence Metropolitan Constantine of Singapore, Hypertimos and Exarch of South Asia
His Eminence Metropolitan Constantine of Singapore, Most Honorable and Exarch of South Asia, Mr. Konstantinos (Tsilis), was born in Piraeus in the year 1973. He studied sacred theology at the Higher Ecclesiastical School of Athens and at the Theological School of the University of Athens, while also attending journalism seminars and programs of a mainly humanitarian content.
He initially worked as a journalist in Greece and subsequently, on a voluntary and occasional basis, in the missionary work of Asia (1998–2003).
In 2003 he was ordained deacon and presbyter by His Eminence Metropolitan of Hong Kong (now of the Dardanelles) Mr. Nikitas, serving under him and his successor as General Archiepiscopal Vicar (2003–2005) and as Protosyngellos (2005–2011).
During the period of the deadly earthquake and tsunami that occurred in Southeast Asia (December 2004), he organized programs of moral and material support for the victims in Thailand and Indonesia.
On 3 November 2011, upon the proposal of His All-Holiness, he was unanimously elected by the Holy and Sacred Synod as the first Metropolitan of Singapore, being consecrated as bishop on the 21st of the same month by the Patriarch and the Synodal Hierarchs, and his enthronement took place on 12 February 2012.
The said shepherd speaks Greek and English, and also knows Italian, French, Hebrew, sign language, and Braille.
