His Eminence Metropolitan of New Zealand, Mr. Myron

(Ktistakis) was born on 15 September 1969. After completing his primary and secondary education in Heraklion, he received a degree from the Agricultural University of Athens in 1993 and undertook postgraduate studies at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania.

In 1996 he was tonsured a monk at the Holy Monastery of Agarathos. He was ordained deacon in 1997.

In 2001 he was ordained presbyter, elevated to Archimandrite, and received a degree from the Theological School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

In 2012 he received a degree from the Department of Natural Sciences and Technology. He is also a graduate of the Medical School of the University of Crete.

He served as General Archiepiscopal Vicar of the Holy Metropolis of New Zealand. He also served as a member of the abbot’s council of the Holy Monastery of Agarathos and as representative of the Holy Archdiocese of Crete on the Synodal Committee for Religious Tourism.

He served as parish priest in various parishes of the Holy Archdiocese of Crete and at the metochion of the Life-Giving Spring (“Eleousa”) of the Holy Monastery of Agarathos.

Since 2015 he has held the position of preacher of the Holy Archdiocese of Crete. He speaks English.

He has participated in various international and nationwide conferences and has represented the Holy Archdiocese of Crete on various occasions and events.
